Soft carriers collapse. Someone's bag swings into you on a busy pavement, the sides press in, and your cat takes the impact. On a crowded bus or a train platform that happens more often than most owners expect.

This hard shell space capsule pet backpack is moulded from rigid polycarbonate. It holds its shape under pressure, so the space inside stays the space inside - no matter what's happening around it. A domed bubble window lets your pet watch the world go past, and nine ventilation ports keep air moving through the shell.

Rigid Has Real Advantages

The space doesn't shrink. A soft-sided bag squashes when it's set down, leaned on, or wedged between legs on public transport. A moulded shell doesn't.

It stands up on its own. Put it down at the vet and it stays upright with your pet level, rather than tipping over sideways.

It wipes clean. Accidents happen on the way to the vet - they're one of the more predictable things about the journey. A hard shell takes a wipe-down in seconds where fabric needs washing and drying.

It lasts. Polycarbonate is the material used for luggage shells for the same reason: it takes knocks without cracking and doesn't wear through at the corners.

Any bubble carrier heats up in direct sunlight. A clear dome traps the warmth that light creates, and a rigid shell holds it in. The nine vents keep air circulating, but they don't cancel out sun.

Keep it in shade, don't use it on hot days, and never set it down in a sunny spot or leave it in a car - not even for a minute. Cats and flat-faced dogs overheat faster than people expect, and can't tell you it's happening. The window at least makes checking on them easy, which is one thing this design genuinely gets right.

On a cool or mild day, in shade, for a short journey, it's comfortable. In summer sun, no capsule carrier is.

What's On It

  • Moulded polycarbonate shell that resists knocks and holds its shape
  • Domed bubble window for a wide view out and easy checking in
  • Nine ventilation ports for continuous air circulation
  • Internal safety clip to attach to your pet's harness, so a startled animal can't bolt when the door opens
  • Removable absorbent mat included - lifts out for washing
  • Adjustable padded shoulder straps plus a top carry handle
  • Zip closure that opens wide enough to lower a cat in rather than posting them through a gap
  • Wide range of colours and finishes

Room Inside

The internal space is generous for this style of carrier - the manufacturer rates it as comfortable for a pet of around 11 kg, with room to turn around and lie down rather than just sit wedged in place.

Worth being realistic about the other side of that, though: 11 kg on your back in a rigid shell is a genuine load. If your pet is at the upper end, plan shorter journeys than you would with a 4 kg cat, and use the top handle when you need to set them down.

Dimensions

External size [Ölçüleri buraya ekle]
Material Polycarbonate (PC) hard shell
Ventilation Nine ports
Suits pets up to Approximately 11 kg
Base mat Removable and washable, included
Closure Zip with internal safety clip
Carry Padded adjustable shoulder straps and top handle
In the box 1 × pet backpack, 1 × absorbent mat

Measure your pet nose to base of tail, and check they can sit upright without their head pressing the shell. An animal who can't turn around comfortably is too big for it, whatever the weight figure says.

Suits

  • Cats on vet trips, moves and short outings
  • Small and medium dogs within the weight range
  • Public transport and city walking, where a soft bag gets squashed
  • Owners who want something that wipes clean rather than needing a wash cycle
  • Confident, curious animals who like watching what's going on

And Doesn't Suit

  • Cats who hide when stressed. Some animals want a dark box, not a window. If yours presses into the back corner at the vet, a covered carrier is kinder.
  • Long journeys. Built for short trips.
  • Hot weather. As above.
  • Owners who need to pack it flat. A rigid shell takes up its full size in storage, always.

The First Few Trips

Most complaints about any carrier trace back to one thing: it was introduced for the first time on the way to the vet. Ten minutes of preparation prevents that.

  1. Leave it open on the floor for a few days first. Let them investigate it themselves.
  2. Put something familiar inside - a blanket that smells of home.
  3. Feed treats in there with the bag stationary and open.
  4. Try a short carry around the house before a real journey.
  5. Clip the internal safety strap to their harness every time, and only unzip somewhere enclosed.

Care

Wipe the shell and bubble with a damp cloth and mild soap; lift out the mat and hand wash it. Don't use alcohol, solvents or abrasive cleaners on the dome - they cloud polycarbonate permanently, and a fogged window defeats the point. Air dry fully before storing.

Frequently Asked Questions

How is this different from a soft bubble backpack?
The shell. A soft carrier packs down small and weighs less, which suits occasional short trips. A hard shell protects against knocks, stands up on its own, and wipes clean - better if you use it regularly or travel on crowded transport. Both are in our Cats collection.

Is 11 kg really the limit?
That's the manufacturer's figure for internal space rather than a structural rating. Space is usually what runs out first - measure your pet rather than relying on their weight alone.

Is it comfortable for the pet?
For a confident animal on a short trip, yes: padded mat, nine vents, and a view out. For a long journey or a cat who panics in enclosed spaces, no carrier this size is the right answer.

Can I use it on a plane?
Airline rules vary widely and change often, and many carriers require a soft-sided bag for cabin travel. Check your specific airline's current specification before booking.

Does the bubble scratch?
Polycarbonate is tough but not scratch-proof. Keep it away from keys and grit in storage, and clean it with a soft cloth only.

Is a harness included?
No - the internal clip attaches to your pet's own harness. It's worth using: it's what stops a startled animal bolting the moment you unzip. Harnesses are in our Cats collection and Dogs collection.

A Note On Measurements And Colour

Dimensions are measured by hand and may vary slightly. Colours can appear different across phone and monitor screens depending on lighting and calibration - the item itself is the accurate reference.
